My Journey--QUILT #3

Another quilt from the Special Exhibit, My Joyful Journey, part of the Virtual Quilt Festival, December 3-5, 2020.

QUILT #3 Waste Not, Want Not, 66" x 86", machine pieced,  hand quilted:

The Story: My first Log Cabin quilt, made as a teaching sample from all my scraps, 1993. I found someone to hand quilt for me so I could put my time into piecing tops ad teaching quilting classes.

I think every quilter should make at least one Log Cabin quilt. Seeing this always makes me want to make another. Such a great way to remember favorite fabrics:

Let's quilt.

  2. You are inspiring me to finish my first full size quilt - yes it was the 1990's so it was a Quilt-in-a-Day Log Cabin with my quilt quild. I didn't even own a sewing machine yet (had only done a hand-pieced, hand-quilted pillow prior....). So I spent the workshop borrowing a machine when someone else was cutting or ironing - everyone was so gracious! I finally obtained my own machine, then years later put the blocks together (as you can imagine, the sizes were a hot mess so some were trimmed mercilessly - ha ha), put then it's been sitting again waiting for the borders (problem is that my bed is now a queen sized and it originally down for a full !) but I'll get there - Thank you for the nudge for the new year!!!

    1. Many of us made those QIAD log cabin Quilts. The big size of the logs got it done faster but to my eye today they are WAY too big. Finished is better than perfect so just get it done and check it off the list.

    2. Oh, totally agree about the size of the logs :)!!!

Thank for the encouragement - I need to make a creative plan for this coming year that includes this quilt...
